Attractions
The village of Badolato is ideally located for activities geared towards relaxation or touring:
- the pristine beaches of the Ionian Sea are located 5km down the mountain from Badolato and can be seen from either terrace of Casa del Ciliegio
- the island of Sicily can be reached via a 1 1/2 hr automobile ride and 20 minute ferry trip. Here you can tour the beautiful mountainside town of Taoramina and view the world's most active volcano, Mt. Etna, from a 3000 year old Greek theater.
- tour the many medieval churches, convent and monastery of Serre San Bruno, located 30km from Badolato. On the drive to Serra San Bruno, stop in Stilo to see the beautiful Byzantine church built into a mountain.
- visit the Byzantine ruins of Rocceletta that were discovered by a baron under his olive grove. These impressive ruins are located only 1/2 hour by car from Badolato.
- tour the Convent of Maria degli Angeli, which can be seen from the terraces of Casa del Ciliegio
- visit the Chiesa di San Domenico (AD1566) and the Chiesa dell'Immacolata (AD1686), both located in Badolato.
